About John Caulfield
John Caulfield studied at the University of Cape Town where he obtained a BA in English and a post graduate LLB degree in Law. He was later admitted as an advocate of the Supreme Court and prosecuted in a number of high-profile criminal trials including murder, rape, armed robbery and fraud. John is passionate about literature, music and boxing. His writing has been influenced by his work as a criminal lawyer, as well as by authors as diverse as Paul Auster, Haruki Murakami and Raymond Chandler. John’s first novel, The Atom Heart Murders, won first prize in the UK magazine, Writers’ Forum, and his second novel, In All My Sad Dreaming, was shortlisted for Foreword Clarion Review’s Book of the Year.
